In this post I will be sharing 5 steps for Fall intention setting! Learn how to utilize seasonal intentions to help shift your state of being towards positivity & mindfulness so you can manifest the life you want!
Anyone who knows me well knows how much I love the transition into Fall. It's my most favorite time of year, not just because I am obsessed with wearing sweaters, hats and boots ( and also the Fall manicures) but actually because of the energy the that Fall brings to our personal lives. According to Feng Shui, Fall is represented by the Metal element. In contrast to the YANG (masculine) energy of Spring and Summer, Fall begins the YIN (feminine) energy time of year.
Fall is filled with soothing colors and the appreciation of home and relationships. Beautiful mornings and the bounty of the harvest encourage self-reflection and gratefulness.
SEASONS OF SETTING INTENTIONS:
Spiritually speaking, the Springtime is a time when you begin to start new activities, plant new seeds, try new hobbies, etc. It’s the start to a seasonal cycle.
Then we have Summer, where we are in celebration and work energy. You start to see what seeds have actually been blooming in your life. The days are longer and you have more time to work towards bringing to fruition all the things that you desire.
After that is the transition to Autumn, the season where we sit back and enjoy all that we have manifested. It’s where gratitude for everything you have cultivated becomes the focus and energy. It’s time to slow down and bask in all that you have cultivated in your life.
This carries on into Winter, when we move into a hibernation where we reflect and prepare to begin again.
As we enter into the new fall season, what are you focusing on?
For years now, I have been setting goals and intentions seasonally. I always split up my focus and effort by the seasons since each season has its own energy. I also create affirmations which are mantras and statements that help to reprogram your subconscious mind in the direction
So, at the start of Fall, setting intentions is a great activity to help you make the most of Fall season and ensure you are energetically in harmony with the cycle. I also create affirmations which are mantras and statements that help to reprogram your subconscious mind in the direction of the things I am wanting to manifest, I used these specific 30 money affirmations that got me to 10k months.
WHAT IS INTENTION SETTING?
An intention is something that guides your mindset and energy toward a focus and desire. It’s less specific than a goal, but it can give you a theme to focus on that will help you reach that goal. If implemented correctly, it’s a way of inviting the universe to guide you towards the life you want in a way that will surpise and delight you.
Setting intentions can help set you on the path toward the life you want to create, its very similar to that of creating a vision board. Where each photo keeps you mentally ‘on track’ towards moving in the direction of your desire.
So, it is creating a list of ‘theme of focus’ that will guide you during the season.
The secret of change is focus — selecting the next right thing, getting really clear on the changes you want to make, setting the intention, and focusing on that intention until you’ve achieved your goal.
WHY YOU SHOULD SET INTENTIONS:
It helps you maintain focus on what matters most so you can prioritize your energy and time.
It’s like planting a seed into your subconscious mind that ends up creating its own momentum.
Once you’ve set an intention, then you are more likely to see and attract opportunities that will help you with your intended goals.
In yoga philosophy, it is called san-kalpa. According to one definition, the word can be described as: “A vow that comes from the very core of your heart -- the place of your deepest truth. It is different than a goal, in that it's a longing that comes from your highest self instead of your thinking brain.”
HOW TO SET YOUR FALL INTENTIONS:
What are your intentions and goals for this next season?
If you aren’t sure and haven’t set your intentions for the season, I encourage you to take time this weekend to meditate and/or journal it out and come up with your focus.
Intention Setting Step 1: Reflect & Get to the Core of What you Really Want
To tune into your deepest truth, you may want to try doing a deepest personal values exercise.
Knowing what is most important to you on this deeper level will help you create your own powerful San-Kalpa Intentions for this new season.
Journal what comes up for you when you ask yourself these questions:
What are my deepest personal values?
What am I longing for?
What would I love to create this season?
Fun fact: A similar Deepest Personal Values guided meditation was done as part of an experiment with a bunch of MBA students and those that identified their deepest personal values reported lower levels of stress and higher levels of achievement than the students that did not identify their deepest personal values. And I can say personally, staying connected helped me manage my stress and stay focused on my priorities during my studies last year.
I believe this is because under periods of stress such as starting full time school while working full time, without a focus on what matters most, people can easily get overwhelmed and lose focus on what is most important. This is when things get unnecessarily hard, difficult and our health and wellbeing suffer.
But when we focus on our deepest personal values first, then we can go into any activity whether it is a short-term stressor like school or other regular life ups-and-downs of running a business, work and general personal life stuff, we are able to prioritize and stay focused on what really matters!
Intention setting Step 2: Make the experience into a beautiful ritual
I find that most people prefer to first do a guided meditation, you can find many to choose from inside my membership, to tune-into their deeper levels of being. Then after the meditation, they journal about what came up and explore it deeper.
Beautiful relaxing music, maybe some candles, your favorite journal and a delicious cup of tea will also help you create the space and mood to make this an enjoyable and fun self-reflection exercise!
Create your own intention for this new season by connecting to your deepest personal values , truth and desires of your heart to make the most of the next 90 days to create your (im)possible future!
Intention setting Step 3: Choose the right language
It is so important to try and make intentions feel like affirmations so that you can reprogram your subconscious mind with them. I really encourage you to start your intentions with “I will"…
For example, here is a list of possible intentions you could set for Fall. . .
Intention Setting Step 4: Reinforce your intentions
When you set your intention, you’ll want to think about how you can keep it at the front of your mind moving forward.
Some ideas for you to consider:
Write your intentions on a sticky note and place them somewhere you can see them each day.
Create a vision board with images and the phrases you want to see
Say your intentions out loud as if they were affirmations
Set reminders on your phone reminding you of your intentions
Get creative on how you do this. Immerse yourself in an environment that supports your intentions so you connect with them daily. This will help you to not revert to your old, automatic habits.
Intention Setting Step 5: Sit Back, Relax and watch as your intentions begin to unfold
Now that you have prepared your Fall with a list of intentions, you can relax and trust that things will always be working out in the direction of your intentions.
However, setting intentions does not allow you to control the future. What’s important to realize is that you have no idea how your intentions will manifest in your life, you must keep your energy in a calm and neutral state.
Your intentions are working behind the scenes in your subconscious.
It’s a delicate balance. You’ll want to check in with yourself and your intentions, but understand that there is more at play than you can see.
