For as long as I can remember, I have always understood the power of a woman's closet. Having a wardrobe full of clothes that make you feel fabulous, will have you walking confidently through life. Can you imagine opening up your closet and feeling excited to get dressed? That would be in a perfect world, right? It doesn't have to be.
Most of us don't even regularly wear most of what is in our closets, we have a few key staples that we love and then we just let the rest sit in our closet. These abandoned close are clutter and could be blocking your ability to call in more of the wardrobe you really want.
It's important that you pay attention to what sits in your closet, treat it like a beautiful boutique and watch your confidence and effectiveness in life, sky rocket!
6 steps to a high vibrational closet:
1. If you don’t absolutely love it, let it go!
Go through everything in your closet, including accessories, shoes, hats, belts, handbags and anything that sits in there. Assess the item. Is it still in style? Would I wear this again? Are the tags still on it after a year?
If your answer isn't 100% "yes! I love this item" That's a sign its meant to go! It doesn't serve you in a powerful way any longer and all it does it hold space that belongs to something else that will give you better support in living your glamorous life. When we are filling our lives with ONLY the things we absolutely love, that's a sign to the universe you won't settle for anything less than the best!
2. Is this item in good condition?
If your clothes are worn out, ripped, outdated, or don't fit any longer, it's time to decided what to do with them. You can either take it to a tailor or take it to Goodwill. If you are going to keep it, take it to the tailor immediately, don't hang on to something only to procrastinate and keep the clutter. Same goes for bags and shoes, if they aren't in really good condition, its time to get it repaired or give it away. STAT!
3. Create a solid organization system.
When you have less in your closet, you'll have more room to organize your closet so it looks chic. Matching hangers are a must, you can get them on Amazon or HomeGoods, whatever you do, don't use wire hangers from the cleaners. Again, its important to show the universe just what you are available for. I like to be sure to buy the proper hangers to store items and I buy extra hangers to show the universe I am ready for more. This will help you maximize your space and make your closet look neat, organized, and purposeful.
4. Does this item fit my desired lifestyle?
Maybe you have switched up careers or have evolved to a better version of yourself. We all should continually evolve in life. Your closet should reflect the woman you desire to be. This was actually something I really had to work on for myself and my Decor Therapy clients. This one step will make a MASSIVE shift in your life. If you are holding on to those old low waisted jeans that were hot a couple of years ago and today you want to be more polished and chic, get rid of them and upgrade your jeans.
They say dress for the job you want, I say dress for the lifestyle you desire and the woman you want to be!
5.Only buy clothes you absolutely adore.
Sometimes we like to buy something because it’s on sale or it’s cute, but we don’t necessarily love it. Have you ever been shopping and just bought items for the nights event or just because its trendy? We have all been victim to it, your closet is probably proof of this. Instead of shopping on impulse, shop with a purpose! Make a vision board and have a plan for outfits that you want to wear. Only choose items that will help you build your curated wardrobe and enhance your intended personal style.
6. Don't forget your under garments.
How you feel about what you are wearing underneath your clothes, has everything to do with how you feel about what you are wearing. I personally love to spray my garments with perfume so they smell fantastic. I keep liners in my drawers to have everything smelling fresh and clean. I also keep a separate organized drawer for my fitness clothes.
