Effortless Style + Colorful Tradition

Hi Decorista readers! It's Camila from Effortless Style back to share another room you can recreate in your home on a budget. Today's room is one of my favorites from Martha Stewart Living. It's the most like my own design style in that it's a mix of traditional, modern and eclectic with a high dose of color!
1. The most important piece in this room is the large abstract piece of art. Original art can be expensive in any size, but here is a colorful piece in a 30" x 30" size for only $350.
2. A neutral sofa is a key to any living room. Keeping your sofa a neutral will enable you to switch up your room as many times that you want with accessories and paint colors. This $999 option even comes with nailhead trim detailing!
3. & 4. The most unique part of this room is that the coffee table is actual a cot with fabric covered baking sheets on top of it! They used a vintage cot, but here is a new one for $70. Use some $10 a yard chevron fabric to cover your baking sheets with this tutorial.
5.$499for an 8 x 10 rug is an amazing price point!
6. Let's pretty up the sofa with some pillow talk. The orange embroidered tile option is available for $99 including the feather insert. The green ikat option is only $22!
7. My DIY project in this room was one of the simplest. The cabinets to the left and right of the sofa are from IKEA. In order to give them a higher end look they added decorative radiator grates to them. Only $19for a 1ft by 2ft section.
I'm always looking for suggestions on different rooms to showcase. Email me at camila@effortless-style.com with a room you would like to see recreated on a budget.

GET THE LOOK with effortless style

Hi Decorista readers! It's Camila from Effortless Style back to share with you another room that you can recreate in your own home on a budget.
This desk set up from Domino has always been a favorite of mine:
When making a desk area in a room that is multi-tasking as a bedroom or living room it is key to be concise with your design decisions and go with a less is more attitude. Using lucite items that simply disappear and mirrors to reflect light are great examples of how to do this.
If you want to try and recreate the space above here are some items you can pick up:
1. A little greener goes a long way. I always leave a touch of nature in a space. While many would not have room for a full grown plant we all have a little desk space for a small topiary.
2. It's always important to do a variety of lighting in a space. Don't solely rely on your overhead lighting. This desk lamp provides another source of light and it's sleek space will keep things clean.
3. Mirrors open up a space and help bounce light around the room. I love that instead of just mirror the designer went with a pair. This mirror would work nicely to recreate the look.
4. Keep all of your office supplies out of sight in stylish boxes.
5. Our touch of lucite in a desk chair simply blends into the space.
6. A tomato red Moroccan pouf provides a foot rest for you and a pop of color that helps tie the room together.
7. I believe that the main item that makes this room is the amazing dark blue grasscloth wallpaper. Grasscloth can be pricey and applying it can run you even more money, but the impact is amazing. I was lucky enough to find a budget friendly grasscloth and if you apply it yourself you'll save yourself more money.

NEW CONTRIBUTOR: Camila for EFFORTLESS STYLE

Hi Decorista readers!
This is Camila from Effortless Style Interiors I'm an interior decorator and blogger from the NY area. Ok, sadly I no longer live in NYC, but I'm only a short train ride away since I have migrated out to the suburbs!
For today's post I will be spotlighting one of my favorite rooms and showcase a couple of products that could help you achieve the look in your space.
First is up is a living room designed by Palmer Weiss:
To achieve this eclectic glam look in your space I would recommend picking up some of the following items:
1. A chic accent chair that will just envelope you. 2. A warm neutral shade on the walls will really let all of your furniture and accesories shine. One of my favorite neutral is Powder Sand by Benjamin Moore. 3. A pop of color is also needed. Since a bold color shares a lot of people use it in small doses like this tangerine toss pillow. 4. All girls love a little bling and sometimes we need to remove the bling from ourselves and put it to use in our home decor. This wall decor piece is a steal at only $47.95 and it's 38" long!!! Madness. If it's not gold enough for you go to town with a can of spraypaint. 5. A room is never finished until it gets a dose of animal print. This small ottoman works nicely in this space. 6. Original Platner coffee tables start at $1,400! Steep but really stylish. Get the same look and still have some extra $$$ in your wallet by picking up reproduction. 7. In a living room lighting is crucial. You should have a variety of sources in the space. For a table lamp this stunner is only $79.95! 8.Original Beni Ourain rugs are really pricey. I would pick up this plain rug from Ikea and then use this great DIY tutorial to get the same look.
