Ever since I was a little girl I was fascinated by the art of coming home. There was nothing like coming home after a long day, coming home from a vacation, coming home from dinner. There is just something really amazing about loving where you live so much that coming home feels like a big hug.
Which is why I am always so surprised to see just how much people don't care about their home. Over the weekend, I met a woman who when she found out I was an interior designer, told me "oh gosh, please don't come to my house, its awful"! I was almost heartbroken when she started to tell me how much they don't really need to do anything about their home, its "just them two." I couldn't help but think to myself, but she's missing out on how good it feels to love where you live.
It's become my biggest passion to help inspire people to really care about themselves and the life they live. Which was the main message of my book, Blissful Living and from that created a course to teach you the methods I use called Blissful Living workshop. It’s completely humbling to realize that there are areas of life where most of us have too high of a tolerance for low-level thinking, playing small, other people’s excuses or even your own. The lingering fears you allow in you head have you putting up with or accepting less than what you truly desire.
Let this be the time you ask for more for yourself. Stop spending your time, money and energy on whatever doesn’t make you happy or isn’t serving you living your dream life. Insist to the Universe that you’re ready for a new path to open up. Set the intention and seize every opportunity to act on it.
Which is perhaps why design blogs are so inspiring to me and I still blog as much as I do. I love how this stylish blogger joannafingal styled up her home. These are a few photos of her space which will hopefully bring you so inspiration. It brings me such joy to see other people create beautiful spaces that leave a legacy of sorts. When you are designing a beautiful life and home and sharing that with others, it inspires them to be great too. Isn't that incredible? We can actually use the things we call 'luxuries' to show the power and magnificence of God and how we can all really live a beautiful life. One full of our desires. It's all about knowing 'how' to approach it. This is what I just love to teach!
It's wonderful to have a beautiful space to come home to, drop your keys, turn on the lights and feel welcomed home. A few things I love to do to prepare for coming home:
1. Make infused waters. I love cucumber water and strawberry water. I love to put them in the fridge the night before I leave the house so that when I come home, there's crisp and hydrating water for me to enjoy.
2. I like to wash and dry my towels right before I leave. When I come home from a long weekend, I can turn on the quick time dry, throw in lavender sheets and pull out the best feeling warm towels for after a long bath.
3. I always spray the pillows and blankets on my sofa with febreeze or linen spray and perk them up. So when I come home, I can take a long lay on my sofa and just breathe. It's the best feeling.
