secret of domestic bliss #39... decorating with screens

Screens are absolutely essential in interior decorating. You will likely find a screen perfectly placed in a well designed home, simply because designers are so not afraid to use them. They can be intimidating for the average decorista just looking to spruce up her space because placement is key. I want you all to know, its perfectly normal. Don't let that stop you, however, from using this magical items. They can turn a drab corner into fabulousity, they make a great headboard and can even be used to divide a really big room. Let these images be your inspirational guide!

interior style crush: Graham Moss

After perusing the internet over the holiday weekend, I have so much to share.
I have fallen head over heels in love with the creative works of NYC interior stylist Graham Moss. The creative mind train that is used for set styling is unpredictable and a vital necessity in the design world. It takes amazing patience and a well trained eye to pull off style like this.

I love his uses of monochromatic color stories to set the scene for this show-stopping interiors.

This unexpected butterfly artwork works perfectly here. I can’t get enough of Mr. Moss’s work.
So splendid...don't you think?

The Art of Living...mixing winter decor elements

viabliss
As I am sure you can tell, lately I have been fascinated by furs + taxidermy. I think its because they are both equally fundamental parts of winter weather decor. Los Angeles has been getting crisper by the day and I'm getting to snuggle up with my fabulous fur throws. So delicious. I love the way this editorial mixes the two elements of decor. They blend together so well... the soft & delicate texture against the hard & masculine style, its just perfection.

Have you guys checked out pinterest yet? If not, you should...its brilliant!

Home Tour + Bliss in the kitch' : a pastel paradise

I am all for bold and beautiful colors in design. Conversely, there are times when my palate gets overloaded and I would relish the feeling of coming home to a muted color scheme like this beautiful home. I adore the pastel colors of this home, the bedroom is so relaxed and cozy. Sometimes no color, says so much more than bold and bright color, no?

secret of domestic bliss #38... zebra ottomans

Absolutely every space in the world should have a little bit of something exotic.
I will always suggest a beautiful zebra ottoman, it just makes a room sing.
They may seem to be a little repeated at this point, but a wild animal print is still so chic.
In my opinion, if your home needs a pick me up... grab one of these bad boys and rock it!
Easy peasy.

Dear Decorista, I want a peacock blue living room!

I love your blog. My husband and I have just bought our first house. I would like to paint the living room peacock blue and he thinks it should be white (he thinks every room should be white). Can you please post some more photos of this- I think once he sees how good it looks he won’t be afraid of the color.
 Thanks, Cathie!

The minute I read this email, I knew I had to help the girl out.
Blue walls in the home? Absolutely!!!

(I love all the blue in this room above...the blue zebra fabric is so fun!)
Everybody needs a good blue room.
I am a sucker for blue on the walls. There are so many different shades.
If he can't commit to the entire wall, why not try something like this?
Decorators LOVE blue. For more on blue go here

Amazing angles (interiors photography)

I love interiors photography. I honestly wish I was better at taking photos, or just had a better camera.
Being on so many sets lately has taught me so much about angels and how to shoot.
So much more goes into a photoshoot than meets the eye.
I'm just crazy about these curious angles in the photos above.
Very effortless looking, but probably really well thought out.

Tablescape tuesday {entryway table decorating}

As we all know, the entryway of a home is one the most important spaces to decorate.
It is like the opening chapter of a book, its got to be good.
Tablescaping the entryway can sometimes present a challenge but I am just loving how these foyers, have been styled with displays of beautiful treasures.
Artwork and flowers are extremely helpful and oversize decor can make such an impact.
Oh, and really great rugs and beautiful trays, work wonders!

Home Tour + Bliss in the kitch'...sara tuttle style

The lovely way Sara Tuttle decorates her interiors just blows me away. I have such a girl crush on this woman. She was named as one of Domino Magazine's "10 decorators to watch"...which made me instantly know I would love her.
In her ultra stylish apartment, this richly dark kitchen is perfection mixed with the white cabinetry. Can you get over the fabulous floors? So traditional, so stylish, so chic for such a small space.

I love the rest of her gorgeous Washington DC digs. Packed to the max with some serious style.
I can appreciate her mix of furniture styles and artwork. The highs and the lows are all over this space. Completely achievable on a budget...It definitely had me at hello.
In this bedroom, so many little details create the perfect relaxing boudoir...
not to mention a killer view!
