It isn’t a secret that I love the color pink.
In the words of Audrey Hepburn, “I believe in pink!”. So there’s that.
As a child, in the early 80’s our house was painted in pastel pink, decorated with florals and black accents. To this day, I still love that look, so very vintage edgy glam.
Here’s the thing about pink in the home, the color pink represents unconditional love, compassion, fun, happiness.
It is the color of universal love of oneself and of others.
According to Feng Shui, Pink represents friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace, and approachability.
Paris is the city of love and filled with gorgeous pink buildings and doors. India’s streets are lined with pink as it brings a vibrant joy. Back in the 1700’s European Aristocrats wore shades of pink to symbolize luxury and class. It’s historically a color of bliss.
In Feng Shui, using the soft shades of pink in your home helps to cultivate happiness within your family and strengthen the romantic love in partnerships. It can even encourage harmonious communication between those who reside within the home.
I honestly think every area of the home needs a little pink but after seeing this gorgeous kitchen designed by Arielle, it occurred to me that more kitchens need to be pink.
Especially because the kitchen is a place where love is cultivated. Through making food, nourishing your body, spending time with family…a lot of love goes on in the kitchen. I’m making a case for the pink kitchen.
However, I don’t think you have to renovate your kitchen to adorn it with pink. You can intentionally add hints of pink, think loving energy that will fill your kitchen with those loving intentions.
Every time you see your pink accoutrements in your kitchen, it should remind you of loving thoughts that will pour over your home and family. I came up with some of my favorite accents that you could add to your kitchen that could give it a little bit of pink and enhance your culinary space with a little bit of loving, healing energy.
HOT TIP: tell the boys in your home that the color pink symbolizes your love for them so when they see the pink, they'll remember you love them too and not just see a girlie color.
Another fabulous benefit of having the color pink in your kitchen is that it encourages and promotes a sense of self love, self compassion and self worth.
The color will help you feel more confident as you make food choices and eat mindfully. As you experience joy cooking and eating meals, it will allow you to eat without guilt, fill your body with loving feelings. Anyone who has a complicated relationship with food will benefit from eating in the pink.
