Loving Lamps Plus

Things around here are so crazy right now, so forgive me for not posting as often as usual. I have been trying to get everything with clients up to speed and my new apartment ready before my trip to Spain. Yes, I am heading to Madrid for work and a little bit of play next week...

Thank goodness for people and companies who make shopping for decor oh so easy and seamless, like Lamps Plus. Where I decided to get a few things to beef up my vanity area. I really wanted to make it fresh and modern yet still girly glam.
The robert abbey delta lamps (my current obsession) look so fresh atop this gorgeous white desk, right?

Once I started shopping, I literally couldn't stop. I knew for my new space I wanted a super fluffy white rug. I also knew I needed to get some brass into the mix so this gorgeous mirror and floor lamp were the perfect additions. I also fell hard for leatherette lamp shades for my new brass vintage babies.
So far, I am loving everything. Decor success!

office space of the day... 6 Art wall looks I love

white walls + gorgeous blue chair + retro black lamp + wood desk + mixed framed art pieces =
domestic bliss

I've been working on my art wall above my home office. I'm loving the mix of frame finishes.

This was the original photo that inspired my current wall. White walls and mixed frames, white, black and metallics. I adore this look, there is something very sophisticated about it. The space looks very modern and well put together, metallic finishes and a little dash of that john lewis furniture look.
I have also always loved Mary Macdonalds office originally in Domino magazine. The contrast of blue and white always really stood out to me. As much as I love the look of mixed frames, there is something very chic about all black and white. She is so glam, I adore her decor.
Something about this layered look really draws me in too.
One of the most famous NYC decorators, Charlotte Mott, covers her decor offices in artwork and also mixed in an inspiration board look too. I did the same in my new space.
Finally, this really inspired me too. I love the way that the art really pops on the black wall. The mixed style of furnishings just look so polished and well put together.

Lana Gomez...

Allow me to introduce you to one of my favorite artists...
I've recently been on the hunt for some art to go above my sofa, the bare is wall is just so sad and lonely. She needs something pretty. The first thought that came to mind. Lana Gomez. I absolutely adore her, one of my favorite gals back in LA and she it not only a sweetheart but she has style, and major swag. All the hot designers use her work...ie Kelly Wearstler, Tyler Dawson, Jaime Drake just to name a few...
Her stuff just looks so good in well decorated spaces. I am seriously needing a Lana Gomez piece like now. Which one would look best over my chesterfield?

Here she is again at the Santa Monica art fair. Always looking fab and in red. Love it.

Pop of red...

I know Valentines day is long over but I am still so enamored with the beauty of the color red. I don't know what it is lately, but its slowly becoming my favorite new accent color. My new bedroom is all white and I'm in love with it. However, this photo just makes me want to add some luscious and rich deep red curtains. And maybe a few little accents too...

10 things that rocked my world this week...Valentines week edition

1. This week was such a good one. Lots of my goodies arrived at the house, like these amazing delta lamps from Robert Abbey. I am absolutely in love, they are so much better than I actually envisioned them to be...

2. Same thing with my brass floor lamp. It's so shiny and pretty. It just makes me so happy. It's always hard to get the right lighting in a space and I am so overjoyed to have nailed it.
3. Architecture. This city is just endlessly captivating to me. I went to visit a new client this week and the entryway was astounding. Very 80's glam. The white and brass together just worked so well.
4. Voluspa. So for Valentines day I treated my apartment to a candle, because I love for my space to constantly smell delicious. This is my favorite from Voluspa, Tuberosa Di Notte, it's so incredibly perfect for my bedroom. I promise, its magical.
5. White orchid. My absolute favorite flower. So simple, so sweet and delicate yet so incredibly beautiful. I love the way she looks in my bright white living room. I named her Sade. She was the perfect Valentines day gift. I love her.
6. Sweet Valentines day deliveries will always rock my world, too. #justsayin
7. Curves. Yes. I love furniture with curves and this black velvet tufted bench came in for my dining room nook. It's so cozy and warm. The shape literally makes me weak in the knees, I just love french style furnishings.
8. Antiques. One of my favorite things in the world is antique store shopping. I love my new upper east side neighborhood but had to venture back to the upper west side and pay a visit. My favorite store was filled this week with so much goodness. The light blue walls mixed with chrome, brass and floral art. Wow.
9. Valentines day package from my mom. The package was filled with emerald and gold goodness, so good. The best part...the card. Thank you mommy. <3 nbsp="">
10. Beyonce. I didn't get to see her documentary, but I did see her Oprah interview and it was filled with such encouragement and inspiration for women. It's so incredible to see a woman really love being a woman and enjoy filling the roles of what it is to be a woman in her life. LOVED IT. I especially loved how as much as she is all about her power as a woman, she recognizes and acknowledges the role her husband plays in her life and gushes about her love for him. That's so inspiring to see.

How to live like a lady in Paris {lee radziwill style}

I love Valentines day. It's all about loving things, especially the home...
There is nothing I love more than loving my home. It's so special to me, achieving domestic bliss is my lifelong purpose. It's so good. So when the NY times decided to grace us with the lovely Parisian lady space of Lee Radziwill, and she happens to be Jackie Kennedy's sister.
I am captivated by her home. White walls (hello, my new obsession) and a bright pink sofa. Two killer elements for a femme space. Not to mention the gorgeous light blue curtains, beautiful chinoiserie chairs, and 11 framed botanical prints on the main wall. It's so bright and fun and perfect for entertaining with 2 seating areas for killer conversations.
Her bedroom is lovely and simple for deep sleeps and those gigantic topiaries outside on the balcony are insanely good. Love them. Who doesn't love piles and piles of light pink roses mixed with the most gorgeous flowers. One way to enjoy your space, lots and lots of flowers. Happy Valentines Day.

Books on chairs...

Okay, so I have just been all over the place sourcing things for my new apartment and I think I am falling in love. Actually, I have to admit, I am in major love with it. Decorating a new apartment just gets me going like no other. In Manhattan, its even better because when you move to a new neighborhood, its like an entirely different city.
The east side has some majorly amazing spaces and I am always finding things on the streets. Sofas, dressers, etc. NYC city streets are abounding with amazing things. The other day I found this gorgeous old french chair. It has a little tear on it but nothing that scared me away, her bones are so beautiful. I can always use some extra seating around the house and then thought to myself, "How do I style this?"
Then it occurred to me..."books!" Maybe a plant, pillow or two but definitely a stack of amazing looking books will do the trick. Loving this look.

10 things that rocked my world this week...February 11

1. Sophia found her place in my new apartment. Right in the entryway, so I still get to see her every time I come home. She is so fab. Love her old hollywood vibe...

 2. LOVE. My first Valentines day gift of the season came from one of my besties...the rose gold love necklace from BaubleBar. So cute.
 3. Found this pair of vintage brass greek lamps in a thrift shop in Queens. I cannot stop obsessing over them. Very fabulous.
 4.  Spikes. I've spent a lot of time in my house this week, getting situation and settling in. So, I find that these little domestic moments are becoming my favorite. Candles burning in my rose quartz votive holders are amazing and give off a warm pink glow. And of course, my metallic spiked tray rocks my world every day. Love it.
5. Yellow. Totally fell for these yellow glazed pottery things. I have no where to put them but they sure did bring me some sunshine on that shopping trip.
6. Vintage books. I spend hours on pinterest getting inspired, however this week I was fascinated with my vintage decorating books. They brought me so much inspiration. I am addicted and now I want more.
7. Decorating? Why yes I am. How cute is the Joss and Main delivery packaging?

 8. A gold lion knocker on a glossy black door. YES. The epitome of chicness.
 9. A little afternoon coffee at Gramercy Park hotel, such fab decor. My new favorite place to chat and have a brew.
10. I am iphone app addicted right now. Imadeface, is my new fave. Cartoon maker. This is my cartoon selfie. So fun.

bliss in the kitch'...eat in kitchens

So, in my new little space...
(pics to come soon I promise) I have an eat in kitchen area. It's absolutely adorable and I am so excited to get to decorating it. This weather is limited me from scouring the streets. I really want a fab table and some vintage chrome or brass dining chairs. This would be my dream.
I do, however, also like the look of french seating because of the curves. Then I could mix with a more modern table. I think I prefer round as opposed to square or rectangular, though.
This is such a fabulous mix. The trusty Ikea table mixed with some super fabulous Restoration Hardware seating. Gotta love that. I love love this look with two chairs + a bench.
I did this in this apartment. The black and white stripes on the seating pulled it all together. I think this  really is a winning combination.

I prefer a mirror but I do adore these cutely put together art walls. Such a great alternative idea.

The Paris apartment of Jean-Louis Denio

It really has been a long while since...
I have been inspired by anything in design. Kelly Wearstler is the main gal who pushes boundaries and creates something oh so fresh, it always leaves me wanting more. Well, Jean-Louis Denio does that for me. I have seen a few shots of his work here and there but the other day I came across his Paris apartment and wow.  With my recent infatuation with modern Parisian spaces, this sealed the deal for me, HE KILLED IT.

Not just your average black and white stripes, which for me are starting to grow a little tired. He tricked out his dining room in mixed metallic horizontal striped wallpaper. Yes! Ah, I just love it. Then in one bathroom, he pushed the envelope with a diagonal greige theme...my goodness, its good!

Now, please don't think I am cheating on New York or the rest of country, I love my home. I just find it incredibly intoxication to find inspiration from forward thinking, especially in design. This guy has really rocked my world. You wouldn't think it but this apartment is actually really small. So these photos really show how great design can trick the eye. This is some solid design skill. Love.

Apartment inspiration...Mixing Metallics

While I am getting all settled in I'm finding that I'm perplexed as to where to my put things. I want to shake things up a bit in my new space and I think mixing metallics is just the way to do it. I have been inspired lately by overseas decor, especially Parisian and London apartments. They mix metallics with no abandon.
Most things that I really want I cant find in the states. I have to shop abroad, which is kind of annoying. I like to find things from mydeals (UK version) and sometimes ebay can really work too. Have you guys ever tried to buy anything overseas? When I went on my trip to Paris in November, I wanted to buy everything and ship it back but... it's quite difficult, no?
Ah, but the findings are oh so dreamy...

office space of the day...the Paris Apartment

I always love to see where fabulous people spend their work days. When I came across this Parisian desk, it was love at first sight. I am already planning my return trip to Paris because I swear I got more design inspiration while I was there than ever before...

10 things that rocked my world this week...February 4

1. My weekend was a pretty hectic one. I packed, moved, shopped, worked on some projects and shopped my head off. Never thought I would actually tire of decor shopping...however this week, I almost reached that limit. I can't lie though, I love every minute of it. Redecorating and moving into a new space and making it a home is what I live for, among other things...

2. My old apartment. I got extremely emotional as I was packing up and leaving my old apartment. My very first apartment all by myself here. So many memories and emotions went down in this place and I will never ever forget the special times I spent here. A part of my heart will always be over in a little studio on the Upper West Side.
3. Choices. There is no better way to get over an old apartment, than making selections for a new one. Grey, white, black and a bit of fab pattern are exactly what I am thinking.
4. Sofa. One of the most exciting this is searching for the perfect sofa. I felt like it was a sign that everywhere I went I had seen these amazing Chesterfield sofas. They are everywhere right now. I was looking for the right color, but nothing really was worth me committing to...
5. That is until I found this baby. Mr. Chesterfield in all white. My heart skipped a little beat. This is the sofa of my dreams and I got it.
6. Every now and then you gotta take a little break and enjoy yourself and I did just that. We had the most amazing dinner at Gramercy Tavern. My absolute new favorite restaurant. The food was incredible and the experience made it that much better. Loved it.
7. As I have been exploring my new neighborhood, I am just falling for the buildings on the Upper East Side. This gorgeous building was oh so Kelly Wearstler. Marble walls, bust, black trimmings.
 8. Okay, while shopping around the Chelsea Antiques Market I found this absolutely adorable little mod lamp. Adorable.
9. Mint Green. An apartment building hallway in mint green, white and black. How chic is that?
10. Emile Sande. Seriously. Love this girl. This album is so on point. I am hooked. Totally was my soundtrack this week, upbeat and passionate. No other way to go through life.

A few decorating elements...

So as I really begin to swag out my new space I have been thinking of a few essentials that I will need for my new apartment. Not only do I shop in stores, I scour magazines for things I love and then go for the hunt. It's what I love most about being a decorista.
First off, this mirrored coffee table is ridiculous, no? I love it.
I also really enjoy this gold screen, the plaid fabric on these perfect chairs and that green glass sculptural bowl thing sitting on the side table. Okay, thats it...I'm off to shopping.

Welcome Sponsor...Live. Like. You.

Live. Like. You.
I am beyond excited to welcome sponsor Live. Like. You. An amazing online home furnishings boutique run by Jill Sorensen on Marmelade Interiors. After I purchased these lovely greek key shams and matching duvet for my apartment, I fell so hard for this charming shop.
They have everything that is in style and on trend, easy to order and buy it all in one big swoop.
I also love that you can shop your style, such a great feature and of course I love the doors!
Here are a few things I love...

White leather Chesterfield {my little love affair}

If you have been following me lately on twitter or facebook, then you know my current state of affections for chesterfield sofas. I simply cannot get enough of them right now and I am just seeing them everywhere. It's such a timeless and classic sofa with immense style, how could you not adore them?
I have seen them in magenta and teal and even buttery tan leather, but for some reason nothing really speaks to me. Until I spotted a white leather one, it was absolutely love at first sight. I knew immediately that for my new apartment, I must have one of these beauties in delicious white leather. Oh, be still my heart.
Now, this one isn't white, but the look of it around all white was so calming and serene none the less.
